Ancient
Civilizations Research Project
In class, we have learned
about Medieval Times and we have done a sample research project outline together.
You will use this experience to help you learn about an ancient civilization of
your choice.
This project is to be done independently.
Instructions:
1. Sign up for one of
the following
ancient civilizations to research (there are only 3 spots available for each).
Ancient Egypt, Ancient China, Ancient India, Ancient Greece
or Ancient Rome
2. Research your ancient
civilization using the headings on the attached planning sheets. When planning
and organizing ideas, remember to:

use point form
·
put the information into your own words
During the week of May 19 – 23
a little bit of class time will be given to research and make point form notes.
Any unfinished research must be done
at home and completed by Monday, May 26 .
This is mainly a web-based research project however the use
of books from our class, school library and public library may also be
required.
3. After collecting all
your information, you will write up a report. Much of this part will be done at
school during our language classes. You
must remember to:

include your point form notes (points of interest to speak
about) -relevant pictures that enhance what you are trying to share
·
this can be handwritten or typed
4. Present your report to the
class, demonstrating what you have learned about your ancient civilization. Presentations
will take place during the week of June 2-6
5. Hand in to Ms.Lowen a list of the resources that you used to find
your information.
Tips for Success:
·
READ! READ! READ! Get to a library this weekend and spend
the weekend reading! I will be taking you to the mall library up the street on
Tuesday, but you may not find sufficient information there. The more you inform
yourself, the easier this will be and a lot more fun!
·
Use both books and internet sites to locate information
·
Good researchers take point form notes first, and then
organize their information so it makes sense.
·
Good presenters don’t read off the screen. They add to what
is already there, and engage the audience by making eye contact.
·
Follow the due date guidelines to stay on track!
