CN Tower info...(this also came home on a pink sheet)

In anticipation of our trip tomorrow, there are a few things that I would like to go over with you.
·     Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. They are calling for rain/snow. Please check the weather channel before you leave to double check.
·     There are no lockers at the CN Tower. Please remind your child that they will be responsible for carrying all of their belongings with them, including lunches.
·     There is a cafeteria and a gift shop at the CN Tower. If you wish, your child may purchase lunch. If there is sufficient time at the end of our trip, it is also possible that we stop at the gift shop (not guaranteed). If you choose to send your child with money, please do not send more than $20, and again, please remind them that they are responsible for their own money.
·     Please review behaviour expectations for the bus ride, as well as for the tour itself. We are representing ourselves, each other, and our school, therefore it is important to be mindful of this.
Thank you very much for your assistance with these housekeeping items. We look forward to a fun and educational trip!!

Poetry Party...

April 9th is the day! Poetry has been the focus in our writing block for about a month now. We have been reading it, disecting it, writing it and just all around loving it.  So much so that we want to share our creations with you. After school on April 9th,  we are inviting families to join us for a little poetry party. Watch for the invite coming home next week.
Have a great weekend!

Welcome Back!

A few things...

Today I recognized 2 students for the Student of the week award.
#1 - Irie - since September, Irie has been fabulous in everyway.  During our drama classes, she really gets into character and more recently, during our poetry blocks, she has gone above and beyond when asked to express herself.  Quite the sight to see.
#2 - Alishba - she has had her share of challenges in math this year, but more recently, she has really stepped it up and is really getting confident and grasping new concepts!  I'm so proud of her.

Both girls are very well-deserving recipients.  Congratulations!

- CN Tower Trip form and $$ - these are due tomorrow!

- Please continue to collect and send in newspapers for next Mon. 30th.

- Fractions test - tomorrow!

- Beach Day - spirit day this Friday.

I know you're all devastated...

...but there is no homework again tonight. Shame on me.  Count on some math homework tomorrow night!

Night of the Northern Lights

What is an Inukshuk?

CN Tower Trip

No, you're not dreaming...we are actually going on a trip! Better late than never.
You will find a yellow permission form coming home tonight which is due back after March break. March 24.

Inukshuks

Today we learned about the Inukshuk...watch the video to see what they're all about!  We got the opportunity to make Inukshuks out of straws, clay and even marshmallows.
Our Inukshuks made from straws have been placed on a 'northern lights' background. These will be displayed outside out class.

Mark your Calendars!

During the first week of April (the week we come back from Easter break) we will be having a Poetry Party.  During this time we are inviting parents/families to come to our class to enjoy some of the fabulous poems produced by the grade 3's, and to be served some lovely refreshments by the authors themselves.  An invitation with further details will be coming home after March break! We are looking forward to seeing some of you there.

Fraction Homework

Tonight's homework is found in the orange math duo tang which is coming home...it MUST be brought back tomorrow.  Page 175 of the fractions homework is to be done for tomorrow.  Please do not attempt any other pages. Thank you.

Student of the Week

Mojiz joined our school in September and started off being very timid and uneasy speaking in front of groups of people. He has come a long way since September and just last week at the concert, he stood front and centre and danced his heart out.  I am so proud of Mojiz.  Congratulations!

Raise Your Hand - Words to live by...

The Inuit way of life...

Recognizing Ty!

Over the month of February,  Ty has made some very great and significant changes and improvements to many areas of his day. These changes have impacted his schooling very positively and for that I am awarding him with student of the week! Congrats Ty.
